Hackintosh
GTX 970 / i7-14700 / OpenCore
I entirely decided to have this for the sole purpose of breaking stuff as i was partially young at the time and since i liked macs but was too broke {i ran out of budget to look for the crying emoji}
That turned into macOS running on my main PC — a GeForce GTX 970 and a Core i7-14700, told by the bootloader that all of it is a 2017 iMac Pro, which is stupid cause it had a kids mess all over it
The hard part
the EFI configurations. They were the most difficult thing to get right, and any one of them could break something else. Sometimes it wouldn’t boot at all. Sometimes it said the kexts didn’t work. Sometimes the mouse and keyboard were dead, sometimes i lost sleep, and i used to get drugged by coffee
what finally made this shit work.
I built the EFI myself. Before that I was using other people’s to see whether they would work, and slowly it became clear that they wouldn’t — not for this combination of parts, cause if i ran out of budget for a crying emoji you think i would get a amd gpu?
Where it stands
Acceleration works. Metal does not, cause life is like that — the card is too old for it, and no amount of patching brings it back. Partial, and that’s the real result.
after some time
Fighting it every update is part of why I eventually left macOS for Omarchy.
